TÜRKBESD White World September 2026

Dear Stakeholders,

Data for the first eight months of 2026 indicate that challenging conditions in exports and production continue to affect the home appliances sector. During the January–August 2026 period, exports decreased by 18% and production by 13% compared with the same period last year. While domestic sales declined by a more limited 4%, total sales volume, consisting of domestic sales and exports, decreased by 13% to 17,450,364 units.

In August, domestic sales increased by 8% year-on-year to 825,359 units, while production rose by 4% to 2,242,419 units. In contrast, exports declined by 8% to 1,498,828 units, and total sales decreased by 3% to 2,324,187 units.

Despite the increase in domestic sales in August, the results for the first eight months of the year demonstrate the need for a strong and sustained recovery in the domestic market. Strengthening domestic demand is of great importance for maintaining our sector’s production capacity and international competitiveness.

In this context, we consider it important to increase the existing credit card installment options for essential products such as home appliances, which have long useful lives. We believe that such measures, particularly for higher-value products, would ease monthly payment burdens and support domestic demand.

On the other hand, bringing credit card transaction fees, including those applicable to commercial card transactions, more in line with current financial conditions is also important in terms of reducing the financing burden on our sector.

As an industry, we will continue our efforts to strengthen both the domestic market and exports.

Sincerely,
Alper Şengül
Chairman of the Board of TÜRKBESD
