TÜRKBESD January–April 2026 Overview

Dear Stakeholders,
The data for our sector covering the January–April period of 2026 indicate a year-on-year decline in exports in foreign markets, while the contraction in domestic sales continues.

Cumulative data for January–April point to a decrease compared to the same period of 2025: domestic sales declined by 8%, exports by 18%, production by 14%, and total sales by 14%. During this period, domestic sales amounted to 3,201,855 units, while total sales reached 8,863,812 units. These figures suggest that a cautious trend has persisted across the sector during the first four months of the year.

An analysis of April data shows that, compared to April of the previous year, domestic sales decreased by 1%, exports by 2%, and total sales by 1%, while production recorded a notable increase of 12%. Although this rise in production is a positive development, it is evident that the desired level of momentum has not yet been achieved on the sales side.

In order to reverse the prolonged weakness observed in both exports and the domestic market, it is critical to preserve production and export capacity, sustain competitiveness in international markets, and avoid practices that may impose additional burdens on input costs. In this context, it is of great importance for our sector that the ongoing anti-dumping investigation concerning cold-rolled, galvanized, and coated steel products—expected to be concluded soon—is finalized without the imposition of measures, taking into account sector realities and the overall interests of the national economy.

As TÜRKBESD, we remain focused on advancing our sector through practices that enhance competitiveness, support sustainable growth, and promote high value-added production. We will continue to work in close cooperation with all our stakeholders to maintain our strong production infrastructure and further strengthen our position in global markets.

On this occasion, we extend our best wishes for a happy Eid al-Adha, and wish you and your loved ones good health and peace.

Sincerely,

Alper Şengül
Chairman of the Board, TÜRKBESD
